چکیده

Abstract Objective Cognitive impairments are commonly seen in Parkinson’s disease (PD). However, identification and tracking of cognitive deficits not always part treatment plans. Cholinergic with rivastigmine has demonstrated beneficial effects on cognition gait stability PD-dementia, but less evidence exists PD-mild impairment. We investigated the a 3-month open-label pilot study. Method 31 participants PD mild–moderate impairment (24 male; mean age = 71.7; years-of-education 17.2; Montreal Assessment (MoCA) score 21.7) completed pre-testing single-site, non-randomized study at University Maryland Disease Movement Disorders Center. A subset 12 patients returned for follow-up after weeks treatment. physical examination, MoCA, computerized measure (NeuroTrax) were each session. It was hypothesized that would benefit cognition, particularly executive functioning. Results Rivastigmine benefited global functioning as measured by both MoCA (t(10) −2.5, p < 0.05; M(Time 1) 22.6(2.2), 2) 24.9(3.9)) NeuroTrax (t(11) −3.0, 88.7(13.6), 95.5(11.6)), though no domain-specific changes evident. Relationships among two measures also examined. Moderate correlations found between total scores including Global Scale (r 0.40, 0.05), Visuospatial Functioning 0.39, Executive 0.50, 0.005), Motor Response (speed/planning; r 0.51, 0.005). Conclusions Although small sample size practice must be considered, results suggest potential experiencing deficits. Treatment planning all should include periodic screenings consideration options.

Automatic, unsupervised classification of dyskinesia in patients with Parkinsons Disease

One of the characteristic symptoms of patients with Parkinson Disease (PD) is a rigidity of movement. These symptoms disappear after administration of Levodopa. However, the long-term use of levodopa causes involuntary movements (dyskinesia). A proper diagnosis requires an automatic, unsupervised method for the detection and classification of levodopa induced dyskinesia. The main problem, howev...
